Bosom of Abraham
There once was a rich man; rich as man could ever be
He dressing in the finest of linens; and lived a life of luxury
While Lazarus the beggar, lay outside; covered in sores
Desiring scrapes off his table and crumbs from his floor
Then, one day the angels came; taking Lazarus to Heaven’s gate
The rich man also died; but he didn’t suffer the same fate
Seen from the depths of Hell; the rich man calls to Abraham
Have pity on me Father; from thy bosom send Lazarus down
From the tip of his finger; a drip of water to cool my tongue
I’m in agony from the fire; O please, bid Lazarus to come
Son, your life was full of good things; Lazarus’ of agony and pain
Now yours, a time of torment; to Lazarus comfort reigns
Besides, a chasm lies between us; which neither side can cross
Then send him to my father’s house; for my brothers are lost
They have Moses and the prophets; let the five listen to them
O please, Father send Lazarus; they will repent unto him
If Moses and the prophets; can’t impel them to turn their head
Neither will they be persuaded; though a man rose from the dead
There once was a rich man; rich as man could ever be
