Many of Melbourne's places of worship will open this morning to offer people the chance to reflect on the city shootings a week ago.

Brendan Keilar, 43, died in the shooting at the intersection of Flinders Lane and William Street, while two others were seriously injured.

Christopher Wayne Hudson, 31, has been charged with murder.
A short service will be held at the Collins Street Baptist Church from about 8:10am AEST.

Reverend Rowena Curtis says the service will be open to all denominations. "That service will be a time of remembering the people who have been affected by these events, and a time for silent contemplation and some prayer, and a time for people to light a candle to show their sympathy and concern," she said.
