A Thought

You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates. Don't set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do. No one else should carry the title of "Father'; you have only one Father, and he's in heaven. And don't let people maneuver you into taking charge of them. There is only one Life-Leader for you and them—Christ.(Matthew 23:8-10 — Message)

Who do you look up to? Who do you think “has it all together”? Who do you think is better than you and therefore worthy to be your master? Why?

God created all of us and in His eyes we are all equal. No one is better than someone else; no one life is worth more or less than another. Does God place people in roles as leaders? Yes, but His definition of leadership is someone who serves. They have been placed in a position of responsibility. The leader is not to sit back behind the line and sends others to the battle; he is to train and prepare them and then lead them into battle. But he is no better than those he leads. He is no better than those he serves. So don’t elevate those who have been placed as your leaders/servants. Don’t put expectations on them that God never intended. Instead, thank God for them and pray for them. If you find yourself called to be the servant of others pray that they will not exalt you to a place for which you were not designed.

As Matthew said, “You have only one Father, and he's in heaven. There is only one Life-Leader for you and them—Christ.”

This thought is so important. As a Pastor I constantly remind myself and the church that God is the source of all goodness and if their is anything good in us it has come from him. The scripture is very plain in the 12th chapter of I Corinthians that God has given all of us different gifts and that he has also called people into different positions to serve. The thing that we must remember is the serving part, we are not put in positions to sit idly by and watch the world go by. It is our responsibility to share the glorious gospel with those who are lost so that God can receive all the glory. It should be our desire to be as the Apostle Paul when he said that he would glory in nothing save the cross.

Anwar Thomas, this is one of the best Messages I have read in quite some time, and you are right no one is above anyone else. I love this we hardly ever come across this kind of preaching. Only God we kneel to. God bless you there is so many false Pastors, and teachers telling us that it is OK Jesus paid for past present and future sins. Than why are we running in a race why do we have to finish the course I’ll tell you why! Because you are not save and how you begin, but how you end the course proves you were really saved. These same pastors deceive their people into thinking one should not struggle with sin. So were is the fire that the word of God said we will be try by fire. No do not believe in Mankind only the word is true. If the Bible told John not to kneel dawn to a angel neither should we fallow false teachings and believe the lies that candy coats the word of God. God bless you for posting such a wonderful post. I know of a church that is so large here in the US and quest who feel at home there, the Homos, Lesbians and all who practice sin. When you go up to this Pastor and ask him do you condemn sin he will tell you no. Paul said get that man out of the church in Corinthians. All these preachers are looking for is a big crowd of losers and lots of money in their pockets. You know what read the word of God I tell all who are decieved forhisglory
