THE BROADWAY TO HELL

Post  palmtree on Sat 01 Mar 2008, 10:24 pm

Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

"And then I will confess to them, 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, you who work iniquity!'" ... Jesus - Matthew 7:22

You don't have to be perfect to be saved. None of us are. Except for Christ, no man has ever lived perfectly on this earth. But amongst the imperfect, there are those who fear God and those who do not fear Him. Those who fear God hate evil and understand that there are certain strong consequences for disobedience to God's Word - both now and for eternity. Among those who do not fear God, there are both Christians and non Christians.

We know that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Him. But of those who say that they have received Jesus, we are allowed to ask: how many of these show the marks of a follower of Jesus?

Jesus said: "He who follows Me will not walk in darkness." This implies that whoever lives a life characterized by disobedience, hidden sin, iniquity and shameful things is not following Jesus. Those who habitually commit sin are the slaves of sin, according to Jesus, and will not remain in God's House forever (John 8:34,35).

Jesus and the apostles taught both repentance and faith towards God. Without repentance, you are walking in darkness, you are not following Jesus, you are a moral fool in the eyes of God, you are a slave of sin. And in these perilous times, it is really easy to fall into this category. Just be like everyone else, just drift with the tide, and you're there.

No big deal? Listen to God's eternal Word which was written to spirit-filled Messianic believers in the Book of Hebrews.

Hebrews 10:26-30
For if we sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery zeal being about to devour the adversaries.
Anyone disregarding the law of Moses dies without compassions on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
By how much worse punishment, do you think, will he be deemed worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, and has regarded as common the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay," says the Lord. And again, "The LORD will judge His people."

This passage is written to the people of God - it says "if WE sin willfully". This passage is talking about the judgment of God on HIS PEOPLE - "The LORD will judge His people". This passage is warning people who have been sanctified by the Blood of Jesus. It is warning people who by words and actions INSULT the Spirit of Grace. It is talking about being DEVOURED by fire.

There are lists of those who will be excluded from God's presence.

1Co 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
1Co 6:10 nor covetous, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor abusive people, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

I've been financially ripped off by so-called ministers of the gospel. I suppose they believe that if they can fool me, they can fool God. Or perhaps that the end justifies the means. Not so. I have forgiven the debts and I don't hold onto anything, but I don't know if God has the same view. One man recently (in 2007) sent me $5000 relating to an incident I had forgotten about, which dates back to 1991. It seems that we may forget, but God doesn't.

Jesus warned that even amongst people who had faith for miracles, signs and wonders there will be many who through iniquity disqualify themselves from God's eternal Kingdom.

Many of us have been in that place at times because we have trusted spiritual leaders whose lives and teaching are corrupt, who teach that seriously aiming to obey God is not a requirement for entry into God's Kingdom. Plenty of people break their promises and don't bother to explain afterwards. If you believe that God is cool with that, its just because you read your Bible with blinkers on.

Therefore, "Do not be arrogant, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, perhaps He may not spare you either. Behold then the kindness and severity of God: upon those that fell, severity; but upon you, kindness, if you continue in His kindness. Otherwise you also shall be cut off.
(Romans 11:20-22)

The New Testament is full of severe warnings for disciples and believers. It is not just the Old Testament that warns the righteous to fear God and not trust that past righteousness will override the effects of future sin. We have trusted many times in lies designed to please men at the expense of the glory of God. The faith that justifies before God is not assent to a creed or agreement with sound doctrines. It is a living faith in Jesus Christ, the crucified and resurrected One, that puts you in touch with the living God, and crucifies your old rebellious self (Romans 6:3,4). True faith leads to obedience. This obedience is by the power of the Holy Spirit, but it is obedience nonetheless.

Paul said concerning God, "through whom we received grace and apostleship for obedience of faith among all the nations for His name," (Romans 1:5) Yes, true faith has consequences of obedience towards the One in whom we have faith.

I fear that many people who have come to Christ have rejected His Lordship over their lives in practice. This is absolute folly. Only a few will be saved according to Jesus.

Matthew 7:13 "Enter in through the narrow gate; because wide is the gate, and broad is the way which leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in through it.
Matthew 7:14 "How narrow the gate, and confined the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it!"

If you are playing with pornography, if you are financially dishonest, if you are living for pleasure or worldly greatness and ignoring God's Great Commission, if you hold unforgiveness in your heart against those who have dealt unjustly with you, you are in trouble.

God has dealt with me on all these issues at various times in my life and I am sure He will with you if required.

Please read the gospels again, repent, and cling to Jesus Christ in purity and truth. Do not rest in a dead faith which leaves you dead in your sins.

And pray that the Lord deliver you and your loved ones from the evil one. We are supposed to pray along those lines regularly. It is Wisdom to take Our Lord's Words seriously.

Palmtree, I have been
noticing a lot of people calling for a come back to live Holy for the Lord.
Could this be that He is coming sooner than we expect, for His church must be
Holy before He comes. Now what will make us Holy? I believe persecution does.
And also not having worldly things that distract us from Him.
