A Harlot's Call
A Harlot’s Call
Life is simple on the corner, a look at passers by.
Viewing through the lattice the young and old are spied.
As the twilight turns to evening; she’s not that discreet.
With craftiness, attire of a harlot, she calls to the street.
Don’t these wares look so good, sitting on this window sill?
And don’t they call come to me, come and take thy fill.
Indulge yourself for a moment, release thy simple cares.
Turn in for the eve and enjoy my tempting wares.
My bed is covered with fine linen and a tapestry.
Come and delight in thy pleasures, stay and visit with me.
For the man is on a journey and left his goods alone.
At the sign of the full moon he’ll return back home.
Oh how quickly that we fall, under Satan’s spell.
By sampling, sweet waters stolen from another’s well.
And oh, the bread eaten in secret has such a pleasant taste.
Yet we forget, the dead are there, awaiting us at Hell’s gates.
Hearken unto God’s commandments; write them upon your heart.
Let not the lips of a strange woman beguile you to depart.
Praise the Lord all your days until he brings your rest.
Call upon God to save you and deny her treasures to death.

Re: A Harlot's Call
Irv, this is just beautifully done. I love how you made a poem out of scripture. This is truly a blessing!
