Swept and Garnished

Swept and Garnished

This story is of a manís heart, a devil has been cast out

And now this unclean spirit wonders all about

With no place to go, the spirit returns to the man

And this is where his life changes, once again.

The spirit had been dislodged by Godís mercy and grace

But this manís conversion had simply not taken place

He had never really received Christ as his Lord and Savior

He had simply taken on a look of holy favor

His heart had been swept but not washed by Christís blood

And was garnished by the paint of an imaginary flood

Now the devil had returned, with seven others to call

For he had never really accepted, Jesus Christ at all

Jesus tells this story for the understanding of our conversion

So we are not misled by Satan into all his perversions

These changes in our lives are not made simply by us

But only through Jesus Christ and in Him alone; we trust

This man is like many people in this world today

Calling upon Christ but not trusting Him all the way

Pretending to have Jesus, deep within their hearts

But soon Satanís perversions causes them to depart

So cleanse your heart with the blood, that flows from Jesusí well

Donít be like this man, in this story that Jesus tells

Donít try to fool yourself; donít put on a fake facade

Give your heart to Jesus; give your all to God!

Luke 11: 24 - 26

Thank you for posting this. It is the truth that many who say they belong to JESUS, are only fooling themselves. It is better to be 100% sold out on SALVATION, than to miss the CALL. As the popular hymnal goes, "JESUS is calling, for you and for me...come home, come home"

So, So true

Post  Fenny West on Fri 06 Jun 2008, 11:22 pm

This is so, so true.
Irv you have captured this truth so well and given a timely reminder for us to examine ourselves if we be in the faith.
May the Lord use this poem to draw any gloating under illusory salvation to call Him with all them into His Kingdom.

Thank you for sharing.

Fenny
