The Holy Spirit

Works the miraculous

The same disciples who were weak and anaemic were used to work miracles after they had received the Holy Spirit. That Spirit remains the same today and He can use you to heal the sick if you will let Him.

3When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." 7Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. 8He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
The prayer meeting was set alight as God demonstrated his power when He healed that man. I have no doubt that `that church will be packed the following prayer meeting or Sunday. God wants to move in our midst if only we would let Him. Let put our faith to the test and act what we believe. Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever.
8: Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. 5Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christthere. 6When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said. (Acts 8:4-6)

Teaches us what to say under interrogation

‘for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say."

sheds light on the word of God (Luke 12:12)

Jesus knew what to say when He was interrogated before His crucifixion. Paul knew what to say when he was brought before the religious leaders- all by the power and guidance of the Spirit.

Have ever been interrogated by those who do not believe? Next time look to the Holy Spirit to give you the words to speak.

Teaches us the Word

He is the anointing the Master Teacher Who resides in us and teaches us the Word of God such that people marvel when they hear us expound the Word.

He shows us the different facets and applications. Are you not amazed how He uses the same word preached on a Sunday to speak to people’s diverse circumstances- meeting them at their point of need?

Guides us to do the will of God

Remember the Temptation of Jesus

He, Who was full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, Luke 4:1

The Holy Spirit knows the mind of the Father and will not necessarily lead us to what we want but what the Father wants. And such guidance can often lead us to be tempted of the devil. (Luke4:1-10), like the case of Jesus or to take up our cross however inconveniencing that might be. He sees the ultimate cause- your growth and development, the expansion of the Kingdom of God and the glory of God. And so we see Jesus rebuking the devil that was using Peter and setting His face like a flint and going to Jerusalem even though He knew He was going to die.

W also see Paul in the same manner ignoring the warning that came from prophet Agabus and going to Jerusalem even though he was going to suffer .

10After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "The Holy Spirit says, 'In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles (Acts21;9-10 )

He guides us into all truth

The word of God can be dry and lifeless unless the Holy Spirit breathes life into it. That is why you find professors who know the word of God and yet are not born again because they have not acknowledged the Author of the word. Hence all they have is the letter. And we are told the letter kills but the Spirit brings life. Jesus said the words that I speak to you they are spirit and life. The spirit of the word must emanate otherwise it is useless the Holy Spirit must be allowed to interpret the Word before it can have an impact and transform lives.

13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.

Phillip was having a revival in Samaria but the Holy Spirit intervenes and asked him to go to a desert and preach to the Ethiopian Eunuch. If Philip was not obedient he would have lost the opportunity of leading a soul to the Lord and one who was going to carry the gospel far and wide. May we be sensitive to the Lord’s leading and guidance regardless of how successful we are.

Abides with us forever

We can be assured of the presence of the Holy Spirit if we are obedience to God and He will remain with us forever. He will be in us, with us and for us, fighting our battles, taking us from one degree of glory to another.

Gives us the assurance of salvation

There are times when you and I may feel as if we’re not saved or lost pour salvation. The Holy Spirit is the One Who assures us that we are accepted in the beloved ad that God loves us with an everlasting love.

He comforts us; encourages us

He is the God of All Comfort who comforts us when we are in distress, discouraged by circumstances in our lives. He enables us to see through the eyes of God. He gives us the ability to even encourage ourselves like David did, when his comrades were about to stone Him in Ziklag.

Shows us our calling or ministry

No one in the Body of Christ is called to be a spectator. We all have our assignments which we need to discover, develop and deploy to the glory of God.

It is the Holy Spirit Who will help you to discover your ministry. Mine is to write to encourage, write song of various themes and sing to the glory of God. What is yours? Find out and develop it and use it.

Distributes the gifts of the Spirit

It is He who establishes r commission offices in the Church such as Apostle Pastor, Teachers, Evangelists and Prophets as He wills, equipping us for service.

He takes of the riches of Jesus, the Father and the Spirit and unveils or imparts them to us; and as we take hold of them and run with them, being productive, God is glorified

He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.

15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I

said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.
7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. (John16:7-Cool
4There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.
7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

(1Cor12:7-11)

'he ascended on high,
he led captives in his train
and gave gifts to men." 9(What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? 10He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) 11It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.
Eph4:7-12

He commissions believers

1In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. 2While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them."

Acts 13:1-2
