What was Good about Good Friday?

The scene is gruesome, one of humiliation and grotesque; man at his worst, brutalizing an innocent man; more so, the Creator of the world and of the people who were inflicting this pain and injustice. This is the very God –man, Who was healing the sick, raising the dead, comforting the down-hearted, but now on his own, betrayed by one of his disciples, forsaken by the others as they fled for cover. He was lumbered with two thieves as is if He was one of them. His body had been battered, bruised beyond recognition, bleeding profusely. A crown of thorns was on his head triggering innocent the flow of blood. His side was also pierced and blood flowed. He had been exchanged in place of a criminal- Barabas.
The Word of God also says: It pleased the Father to bruise Him (Isa 53).
So what makes this a good picture?
The truth is that it shows us how depraved we can be and the enormity of our sins. Furthermore, there was no other way to redeem you and I. Without this Friday there can be no Easter, no resurrection, no new life, no redemption, no hope for all of us. We would all have to die to a Christless eternity. We can also see the length, breadth height and depth of the Love of God for us all in allowing His Son to lay aside His majesty to die this cruel death, be made sin and be separated from the Father just reconcile us to God.
We thank God for allowing the Good Friday and following that with Easter to demonstrate his power over death and Satan and sin. With the resurrection we have hope, NewLife, forgiveness of sin, eternity with our Father in heaven. Glory be to God!
