A Preacher
A Preacher
In an old canvas tent with sawdust for a floor
A preacher preaches the message; to come unto the Lord
And the message is a timely one; in that Georgia field
Cotton bolls and lost souls, are both ready for yield
Bible in his hand, he turns through tattered pages
Saying, death the penalty for our sin; the cost of our wages
He continued, none is righteous; no not even one
And for God so loved the world; that He sent His only Son
God commanded his love toward us; yet while sinners, Christ died
As payment for our sins; Jesus was crucified
He takes out his handkerchief; he wipes his sweaty brow
All can receive God’s salvation; you, me, anybody, right now
Here, his finger marked the passage; that he was looking for
For whosoever shall call; upon the name of the Lord
Christ reconciles our sin; we can become adopted brothers
What more can a man do; than give his life for another
The message was a simple one; to the lost souls in that field
Come into the Lord; let Christ’s blood be your shield
Jesus knocks at your door; repent your hearts of doubt
Come, met Him at the altar; don’t be found without
