What is prayer?

What is prayer?
Do you define prayer as the time where you spend talking to God? That is the definition that I most often hear. If so, read on and give some thought to a different definition.
I contend that prayer is a time of Communion with God. Communion is a two way thing. Yes, I say or ask things from God during prayer but don't forget to take the time to let Him speak back.
If you haven't tried this before, do it and I guarantee that you will experience a revival within your soul like nothing you have ever felt before…

Dear Jenny
Thank you for joining CHRISTIAN TALK and thank you for putting the link to your forum. I like your discussion forum as it is beautiful and you have good topics going on.
However, I believe that prayer is a request and humbly made to Heavenly Father in the name of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
I have seen people who think that they are communicating with God go totally astray. They believe whatever comes into their heart and not only mislead themselves but others too. Therefore, we need to ask God to bless us with the Holy Spirit to discern between spirits.
God bless you and your family

I agree to your view to some extent. Most of the people just say a prayer that shows a routine. Some pray so loud that neighbors can hear them and they do it on purpose. Even in the churches they put up a good show.Jenny wrote:I contend that prayer is a time of Communion with God. Communion is a two way thing. I believe that if LORD has to exercise kindness we have to make a request. If God has to exercise justice then we have to make a request. This is what the LORD says,"...that I am LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight." declares the LORD (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

I agree and I believe that communion with God is taking out time and consecrating it to God. We forget in our fast lane that there is God whom we worship.
