I have been a Christian for a few years; but, a luke warm one. I am ready to commit completely and tonight as I am pondering how to go about it, I came across this forum. I don't know how I found it, but I believe it might be a direction from God. I want to learn. I hope this is the place where I will find guidance and learn how to give my life completely to God and Jesus.

I made poor choices my whole life. I am now 71. I hope I am not too late. I grew up in a Christian home so the seed was planted early, but I went astray for my whole adult life. I repent. I lay my life at the foot of the cross and now I am ready for my journey.

Please help me. Please teach me. Please show me how to love as Jesus loves.  Bible

Dear WhiteDove

Thank you for joining CHRISTIAN TALK. It is very easy to love Jesus as He loves us
Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. (John 14:23)
Kindly do the following:

  1. Before reading the Bible, please pray Dear Father, help me understand Your word that I am going to read so that I can use it in my life and live a life that is pleasing to Your heart, in Jesus name. AMEN
  2. Read Bible regularly and when God gives you understanding, ponder on your past life. If there is disobedience to the Word of God, then kindly seek forgiveness.
  3. Pray regularly no matter what. I normally pray three (03) times a day.
  4. Pray on food and water, the same prayer that Jesus taught us.
  5. End your prayers with the Lord's prayer;
  6. And remember it is never  too late for God loves us if we repent with an honest heart; Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
  7. Always be anxious to live your everlasting life with Jesus;
  8. Jesus is the Great Teacher, let us learn from Him only.

Good morning Waqar Daniel.

Thank you for this lovely reply. I will try all your suggestions. I have read the Bible a few times, but didn't understand a lot. I understand the Gospels though. I don't understand Revelations. I will pray for guidance as you suggest.

I know God is working in my life and I know I am doing better as Satan is attacking me like never before and it is very hard........but I will do it with the Lord's help.

I think there is a verse in the Bible "with Jesus for me, who can be against me". And I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.

Thank you for your comments. I would request you to start with Gospels and Epistles for commands and plan for salvation is explained in them. However, I would also request you to read Proverbs as I have benefited a lot in personal and professional lives.

White dove you are definitely in the right place
You have made the right decision to
ditch the valley of indecision 
Take the leap of faith tonight
and start  the  year a Brand new Being.



If there is a living Church around you I would suggest you make the sacrifice to go there and openly commit your life so that you can be followed up and nurture to grow in grace. Coming online cannot be a substitute to fellowshipping with other believers. It can help but it should not be depended on.


Pray about where to go. You try some churches and come to an a decision without much delay. And it is worth knowing that whichever church you go to there will be something you don't like. Don not look for a perfect Church  that  would tick all your boxes. There is no perfect church.
someone once said: 'If you find a perfect church, can I counsel you? Don't join it because you would ruin it!'


We are all work-in-progress at different stages of or growth in grace. No one arrives until they are taken home.


So pray about it and may the Lord lead you.

Thank you FennyWest for your suggestion about finding a church. I live in Canada and it is bitter cold on the Lake where I live. I use a walker to assist me in walking. I don't know what a living Church is. I don't have transportation. It is not so easy around here to get someone to drive a person anywhere, never mind a church. People are cold and uncaring. I have been to two churches nearby. One is a United Church, the other is called Church of Latter Day Saints. The Jehovah Witnesses have offered me transportation, but neither of the others have. The snow is high, I cannot walk through it with the walker. I don't think you would understand.
