Littleness of life
While celebrating his 104th birthday, a man was ask about his long life
His answer was a bit unusual and I pondered his answer, later that night
He said this is just a meager portion, not big, not large, nor great
Small in importance and small in power; but the slice I gladly partake
Yes, this life is short in duration, its brief, a vapor; no, it’s not long
And yet all the stature and things I’ve amassed, will be left right here, when I’m gone
He said most of this life; I was narrow-minded, worldly gain I could not release
But then I learned, the breadth of God’s vision and why Christ must increase
He said, this is the littleness of my life, just a trifle number, trivial; you see
This is the littleness of my life, when measured against all of eternity
