Revelation of God’s Love
Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Growth 4
May we wallow and revel in God’s love

14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

What a prayer for spiritual growth!

Note this aspect of Paul’s Prayer:
How poignant that we appreciate the love of God which moved Him to send His son to save us. For God so love the world…that he gave…

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John3:16

Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. 11-12

11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Ps103:1-5,

23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Eph.2:4

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John15:33

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 1John3:1

Let us visualise the imagery and picture painted by Paul of a tree planted with shoots and roots making its way into the soil into the love of God, anchoring itself on the rich, warm, satisfying, protective moist luscious love of God.

The love of God is vast, fathomless, limitless, full, abounding, powerful and incredible. God’ love is longer than like Mississippi higher than Everest deeper than the deepest depth you know. If all the world and the galaxies were an ocean and you pour the love of God into it, it would run out of space. And if all the branches of trees were quilts with which to write on the canvass of the earth the love of God, there would not be enough branches and we would be writing for eternity. That was why God “ did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all”

Paul’s prayer and my prayer is that:

May we grow and abound in that love, love Him in return and love one another even as He has loved us.

“ There is no greater joy than to know God loves you
