Job 40:4 (New King James Version)

4Behold, I am vile;
What shall I answer You
?

Job is espousing the truth, reality, the naked truth of what we are without Christ. We are despicable, a fraud, contemptible, deplorable, an apology, obnoxious, abhorrent, rotten, rubbish, dung, vile!

And as a result we are of no consequence, without hope, doomed and sit in gloom, damned, condemned, hell-bound, sit in darkness, under Satan’s tutelage, control, dead in trespasses and sin, with hard hearts, blind, bound, bent, crooked, wicked, warped, wild. Can you see the pictures?

We are children of disobedience; our father is the devil; we belong to his kingdom of death and destruction and damnation. It may be hard for us to accept it but it is true.

Nevertheless, in spite of our vileness, wickedness, waywardness, sin-sickness and blindness, God still loved us so much that He sent Jesus –His precious Son, the best He can ever offer, to die in our behalf. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Yes we were condemned without Christ but Jesus did not come to condemn us. He came to save to those that were sick. He came, not for those who are whole but for the sick in all senses.

We cannot save ourselves. We have no remedy in ourselves. Only Jesus can save us, no matter how hard or bad we may be. He is able to save from the ‘guttermost’ to the uppermost.’ No one is too good that they do not need a Saviour. All our righteousness is like a filthy rag before God.

So what do we do?

All we need to do is acknowledge that Jesus is Lord and we will be saved. Soap is useless if it is not used. A wrapped gift is of no benefit if you do not open it and enjoy the content. So is Jesus- God’s wrapped gift to Humanity.

Come to the Cross today and acknowledge that you are a sinner and that you cannot save yourself. Repent of your sin. Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Jesus must be your Lord to be your Saviour. Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. When you are born again, the old life will go and a New Life will begin. Your spirit, hitherto separated from God will be reunited with God and you will pass from death into life.

Today you can exchange your vileness for His loving kindness and goodness. You can exchange your wickedness and blindness for the righteousness of God in Christ. You can exchange your waywardness for the New and Living Way and the narrow way that leads to eternal life and abundant life- the God-kind of life. But God will not force this life on your. The choice is yours!
