The writer’s Challenge
The writer’s Challenge
is to keep the flame burning
even when he sees no change
in the vision he’s believing in
believing that he has a contribution
despite the many oppositions.
He must be comfortable with rejection
even of that which he called gold
He must be humble to eat humble pie
And make necessary revisions
And write the same thing many, many times.
He must battle on in the face of writer's block.
Read from others, learn from others
Who have gone ahead of him
Trod the road that he now treads
He must know his sources of inspiration
And visit their waters again and again.
He must be comfortable with himself
And not be ashamed to be original
He must dare to tread on new grounds
Stick to his guns even when cash gone
He must learn to handle critiques
And turn them from arrows to boon
He must learn to criticize himself
Challenge himself to rise beyond norm
Rise from the ordinary to extra-ordinary
Feed himself, drink from fountains new and fresh
He must be ready to challenge status quo
Package his writing for enduring quality
Believe in himself and in the cause
Keeping the focus, heading for the goal.
He must motivate himself despite opposition
Feeding on the good feedbacks received before
But not resting his oars on them, pressing ahead.

Yes Fenny, this is very true. Our pens must be the scribes pen... to pen
the truth in the face of opposition. Loved the poem. Blessings.
