King of Tyre - Ezekiel 28 Empty King of Tyre - Ezekiel 28

Hi, even though I am not a christian I read the bible , I am very interested in the literature aspect of it, but I have come to a crossroad: I cannot figure out why is commonly believed that the king of Tyre, mentioned in the book of Ezekiel, is a representation of the devil. I read the book and I could not find any passage that concretely relates the king of Tyre with the devil. I want to know if there is anything in the bible that ties the king of Tyre with the devil, or if this believe comes from an interpretation nature .

I thank you in advance, know that I do not want to create any controversy I respect you belief and I really want to learn more about this beautiful book.
Thanks

The Prophet addresses to the earthly (nagid) that means prince of Tyre in the start of chapter 28 and from verse 12 he talks directly to Satan. Satan was in garden of Eden, he was expelled from Heaven and thrown down to the earth. Moreover, if you have read the Bible as you say then you must know that Satan is behind every evil.

God bless you

I understand that is commonly believed that is talking to Satan, but I guess want I am trying to find out is, how did you get to that conclusion when Satan is not mentioned in any way throughout the whole chapter. Again I am not trying to create controversy I just want to learn, I know there is an explanation for this and I could not find it on the web

I explained that in verse 2 that when it was referred to Prince of Tyre it was referred to a human ruler because the word used is Nagid and later in verse 12 when the word King is used the word is Melech. However, here is the explanation. Moreover, as you have put this in "Contradictions Forum", I do not see it in any way as a "Contradiction".

Prince of Tyre
Prince of Tyrus considered himself to be god as it is mentioned in verse 2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: (Ezekiel 28:2)

The whole context of Ezekiel 28:2-10 is that Prince of Tyre is a man and not god. This is the sin of Prince of Tyre that is highlighted in Ezekiel 28:2-10. God says, although the Prince thinks that he is wise as God Himself Therefore, God Almighty says that He will send a ruthless nation against him, and they will draw swords against his nation and destroy him. As punishment, he would die as uncircumcised at the hands of the foreigners. God says that he will be a man and not a god in the hands of people who will slay him.

This clearly shows that Ezekiel was talking to a human being as commanded by God in verse 2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus

Satan
As I stated before that verse 12 talks of satan. I will start with And then the lawless one will be revealed, .... The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, (2 Thessalonians 2:8-9)

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God (Ezekiel 28:13)

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? (Genesis 3:1)

As mentioned in verse 12, satan was in the Garden of Eden.

every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. (Ezekiel 28:14)

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. (Genesis 2:25) The Bible says that Adam and Eve wore nothing. Therefore, Ezekiel was not talking to any mankind or referring to Adam or Eve. Even when Adam and Eve were driven out of the Garden of Eden, God made them coats of skin.

You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. (Ezekiel 28:15 )

If it was Prince of Tyre then how can God say that he was blameless in all his ways when David wrote Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." (Psalm 51:5)

Jesus had to come to redeem all of the mankind from the sin of Adam and Eve. Was Prince of Tyre free of that sin?

I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. (Ezekiel 28:17)

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3:15)

I have given you references from the Bible and these are not assumptions.

God bless you

I thank you very much for this very educative explanation, I can see now how this "king" represents the devil.
Again thank you for taking the time and answer a "stranger"s query, I did not notice that I had posted it in the "contradictions" section of this page I did not mean to offend you or anybody, in fact I did not even know there was such section.
Thanks
