Child's Lunch Box and Jesus

Post  Waqar Daniel on Wed 22 Aug 2007, 6:16 pm

What a child's lunch box can hold? Let us examine in these modern times, as once a High School Teacher, I have a pretty good idea what a small child's lunch box can hold.

Lunch Box

  1. A Sandwich
  2. A biscuit or two
  3. A bar of chocolate

A child's Lunch Box is small and if that child shares with his/her class mates, I am pretty much sure, that none of them will have more than a small bite and they would surely go hungry.

Can a child's lunch box will be enough for the whole school having a strength of 5,000 students, teachers, support staff and other staff at the school. You must be thinking that I am out of mind. How can a Child's Lunch Box containing a Sandwich, a biscuit or two and a bar of chocolate bar can feed 5,000 students, teachers and other staff at the school?

I know it is not logical but when I read Bible, I find our LORD and Savior feeding 5,000 plus people to their satisfaction with a child's lunch box. What an awesome God we serve and worship.

A little boy is here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what are these for so many? And Jesus said, Make the men to recline. And much grass was in the place. Then the men reclined, the number was about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and giving thanks distributed to those reclining. And in the same way the fish, as much as they desired. And when they were filled... (John 6:9-12)

The point here is that during all my life, I have been reading and listening to this story but never understood it till last night, when I pondered on the situation.

People grumble about their situation/s or hard times they face but they never turn to LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, who could feed 5,000 plus people to their satisfaction with a child's lunch box.

Won't you believe in LORD and Savior Jesus Christ and give your life to Him?

Very nice friend, I never saw it this way. I remember when my mom used to make lunch box for me and the time when I used to share it with my best friend. We shared both our lunch boxes because only my lunch box was not enough for both of us. Thank you for making me understand this beauty story from the Bible.

In Christ

I agree with you Stephen, that we read this story but never understand it. I never thought of this story this way and this explanation by Daniel gives a new meaning to this miracle of Jesus.

God bless

This is really wonderful Daniel, you always come up with articles which see the whole incident of the Bible in a different way. I never thought of this before, however I have read it many times and I have always heard this story in the Church being told many times. But relating it with a Child's lunch box, it is amazing, now I can really imagine the small amount of quantity and Jesus' miracle. Thank you for your article and thank you Jesus for this wonderful miracle. Atleast we can boast with all pride that no other god in the world or any follower of any other religion can boast of such wonderful miracles. Awesome Jesus!

God bless

I must appreciate that this is one of the best articles I have read so far. Hallelujah what a Lord we serve and how little our faith is. God bless you
