Only God Can Save

Post  fennywest on Mon 23 May 2011, 10:12 am

Only God can save
Other gods deceive
They are made with hands
And cannot stand
In the day of storm.
Other gods are idols
Weak and useless as dolls.

Talents can be gods
If they take the place of God.
People can be gods
If you place them before God.
Resources can be gods
If they take from God’s word;
Are regarded as coming
solely from your hard-work
and not deployed to serve God.
Accolades can be gods
If they go into your head.
Governments can be gods
when you depend on them,
And begin to dance to their tune
and worship them.
Your beauty or macho looks can be a god,
when you’re obsessed with yourself.
Your intellect can be a god
when it makes you proud
and you looked down on others.
Pursuance of knowledge
can be a god
when the All-wise God
is not acknowledged;
when Christ is relegated to the
background or abandoned altogether.

God must take first place.
He must be number one-the Preeminent One
He only declared the end from the beginning.
He only is the Beginning and the End
The Alpha and Omega
He gives New Beginning
He is the Lord over everything
Therefore hold Him
in the highest esteem.
Put your trust in Him and
not on man or anything you have.
Treat Him as the apple of your eyes.
Let Him be your Shield and Shelter.
Let Him be your only Helper.
Trust Him to be your Keeper.
Rely on Him to be your Healer.
Look to Him as your Provider.
Rely on Him as your Protector
Let Him be your Victorious Banner;
Your Author and finisher.

Let no one or nothing take His place.
Always depend on His grace.
Know that sufficient is His grace;
And you’re sufficient in His sufficiency.
Constantly seek His lovely face,
And He will take you from grace to grace.
Let Him be your strength.
Rely on the power of His might.
Be strong in the Lord.
Always stand on His word.
Let Him be your number One,
From now until he comes.
He made you and will care for you.
He loves you with an unfailing love,
and will bring you through.

1 The fool has said in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works,
There is none who does good. Ps14:1
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2Cor12:9
23 Thus says the LORD:

“ Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;
24 But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the LORD. Jer9:23
He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. Ps147:10
A horse is a vain hope for safety; Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength Ps33:17
Unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep. Ps127:1-2
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; 1Cor1:27
1 God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah Ps46:1-3

Reading this I am reminded of the man who looks in the mirror...
Does he see the image of Yahshua that he was formed in?
That he walks in? Or does he see anything else that replaces Him?
And further down you mention as we place Him first His love sees us through,
delivers us through all of life. Great write! tc
