Christ's Armor

Christís Armor

The night before the battle of my first crusade
With my hand on my sword, I knelt and I prayed

Opening my eyes I looked, at the handle in my hand
And loosening my grip, I saw the image of a man

His helmet of salvation was a crown of thorns
His breastplate of righteousness, a side that was torn

And shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace
A nail had been driven, through both of his feet

His shield of faith, out-stretched, hands nailed to a cross
And loins girded with the truth; a bloody woolen cloth

The sword of the spirit, the Word of our God
His was the life He had given, and the path Heíd trod

I tightened my grip, I lowered my head and I cried
Not from fear of the battle, but for me, that He died.

The fighting was fierce, especially to me, the son of a farmer
But I rejoiced in Christís victory, being clothed in His armor

His victory is
our Hope against hope,
our the strength in weakness,
our sufficiency in deficiency,
our light in darkness
our life in death.
