Christís Armor

The night before the battle of my first crusade
With my hand on my sword, I knelt and I prayed

Opening my eyes I looked, at the handle in my hand
And loosening my grip, I saw the image of a man

His helmet of salvation was a crown of thorns
His breastplate of righteousness, a side that was torn

And shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace
A nail had been driven, through both of his feet

His shield of faith, out-stretched, hands nailed to a cross
And loins girded with the truth; a bloody woolen cloth

The sword of the spirit, the Word of our God
His was the life He had given, and the path Heíd trod

I tightened my grip, I lowered my head and I cried
Not from fear of the battle, but for me, that He died.

The fighting was fierce, especially to me, the son of a farmer
But I rejoiced in Christís victory, being clothed in His armor

our sufficiency in deficiency,
our light in darkness
our life in death.
