Why Praise?
1 I will extol You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
2 Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.
5 I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works.
6 Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, And I will declare Your greatness.
7 They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, And shall sing of Your righteousness.
8 The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy.
9 The LORD is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works.
10 All Your works shall praise You, O LORD, And Your saints shall bless You.
11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, And talk of Your power,
12 To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, And the glorious majesty of His kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
14 The LORD upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season.
16 You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17 The LORD is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works.
18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.
19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.
20 The LORD preserves all who love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD, And all flesh shall bless His holy

Often times we suffer from amnesia, memory loss, mental blocks, unable to think of reasons to praise God. We are blinded, beclouded, burdened by circumstances, the momentary, temporary and transient; that which is passing away; when we pass through the valley of the shadow of death and we think it’s the end of the road; it’s a dead end we lose sight of the promises of God or the greatness of His faithfulness.
At such moments come to the shores and rivers of psalm145 and learn from David.
( using the amplified with the KJV this was what I found:)
Notice that first of all you need to make a quality decision that you will praise God irrespective of circumstances, no matter how you feel. Feelings come and go but the truth about God remains forever.
Within the first six verses David said I will, I will, I will... six times, underscoring the importance of a personal resolution to praise God.
In a psalm of 21 verses he later catalogues why he had made that resolution to praise God:
Because of His:
1. mighty actsv4
2. wondrous worksv5
3. greatnessv6,3
4. great goodnessv7
5. righteousnessv7,17
6. glorious majestic Kingdomv11
7. omnipotence v11
8. providencev16
9. sovereigntyv11
10. fullness of compassion v8
11. slowness to angerv8
12. Great mercyv8
13. Goodness to all v9
14. everlasting Kingdomv13
15. generosityv16
16. nearness to all that call on Him in truthv18
17. salvationv19
18. omnipresence v18
19. willingness to raise those that are bowed downv14
20. Preservation of all that love himv20
21. Readiness to uphold all fall
22. Willingness to fulfil the desire of those who fear Him v19 and for
23. The glorious honour of His majestyv5

And these reasons to praise the Lord are to be passed from one generation to another like a baton in a relay race- fathers, to children and children to their grand children, forever and ever.
May the Lord open our eyes to see what David see of the Lord and have many reasons to praise Him.
If that is not enough see Ps103:1-5
1

Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
Notice the benefits we are likely to forget which he lists:
1. Forgiveness of sins( the greatest benefit you can have)
2. Healing
3. Redemption from destruction
4. Crowning with loving kindness and tender mercies
5. Satisfaction of our mouth with good things
6. Renewal of our youth like the eagle’s (second wind, rejuvenation when you are worn out and you wait on Him.)
If that is enough see Ps34 and 2Chro29:11-12
So when you suffer from a temporary loss of memory as to why to praise the Lord, come to these waters and drink the living water and be cured of amnesia.
