Backslidden Forgiven

Post  fennywest on Sun 22 Jul 2012, 6:51 am

I rebelled,
wandered,
wanted my Republic
Like Fela’s Kalakuta.
Went far away
Squandered Dad's dosh
Inheritance on dance
Booze, cruise, shoes
Drugs, fags, alcohol
Sex, fast cars, gadgets.
You name it, I wanted it.
I had fair weather friends.
They flocked around
And they fleeced me like sheep
For my wool, for my goods;
Licked me dry-
Dry to the bones.
I was a tool
and such a fool.
It looked cool
Till the party was over.
And they all fled
As I bled;
Hungry, angry
Haggard, beggarly
Lived on Lonely Road
Next to Disgruntled Street
Before I came to my senses.

I must go back home
To my Father
And pleaded, 'I have sinned!
Take me as your servant.'

Backslidden forgiven
A New Season
A New Day
New Beginning
A Second Chance
A Second Wind
Healed from the past
Blast from the Past
Out of the valley
And the alley
Nooks and crannies
No more hiding
From God running
like Adam and Eve
Like Jonah old
Like Peter gone cold
Like Laodeceans
Like Ephesus
Like Sardis

Found my First Love
Lover of my soul
Now in control
Enemy ejected
Wickedness rejected
Blindness cured
With eye salve
With Living water
From Miracle Worker
Back from the dead
Back from the cold
Into God’s warmth
Into God’s Arm
And comfort
Back in the Family
Back from Bondage
of principalities.
Back from hell.

Confessed my sin
Hidden deep within.
Now washed, made clean
Whiter than snow
His love bestowed
Given righteous robe
Celebrated, restored
Like the prodigal son
Ring is on my finger
Music is played
Merry making is here
Jubilation unbelievable
Father is delighted
Son is elated
Holy Spirit is excited
Oil is poured
Over my head.
Fear is gone
Love has come

1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, " Where is your God?"
4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast.
5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.
6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, And from the heights of Hermon, From the Hill Mizar.
7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.
8 The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me --- A prayer to the God of my life.
9 I will say to God my Rock, " Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"
10 As with a breaking of my bones, My enemies reproach me, While they say to me all day long, " Where is your God?"
11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. Ps42:1-11

11 Then He said: "A certain man had two sons.
12 And the younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.' So he divided to them his livelihood.
13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.
14 But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.
15 Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything.
17 "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,
19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants." '
20 "And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
21 And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
22 "But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
23 And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry;
24 for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry.
Luke15:11-24
