Seize Your Mountain

17 " But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.obad1:17

The theology of Mountains

What Mountains Represent:
Dominion, Inheritance, Presence, Lordship, Power
It is where God dwells: His sovereignty, unquestionable place of Authority, a place of His righteousness and holiness

1 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised In the city of our God, In His holy mountain.
2 Beautiful in elevation, The joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion on the sides of the north, The city of the great King.Ps48:1-2

3 Many people shall come and say, " Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

The Mountain of God shall be high above all and everyone shall run to it and be saved.
The valley is a dangerous place to be

Here there is constraints, limitation, containment, frustration, depression, confusion, famine, sorrow, sour grapes etc
In this place you are muscled like the snake that strangles its prey by killing it slowly.

God wants to be the mountain in our lives
.
He wants us to have Him as our cup of blessing, our stronghold, our strength, our fortress, our inheritance.

God is sovereign and omnipresent. However His manifest presence makes a great difference. Therefore even as He rules over all, His presence with you should make a tangible discernible difference.

5 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.

Benefits of the mountain of God; the mountain God gives:
There is safety
Genesis 19
17 So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed."

Deliverance
2 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.
Joel2:32

Every tribe in Israel had a mountain. For example the mountain of Esau is Mount Seir

Deuteronomy 2
5 Do not meddle with them, for I will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as one footstep, because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.

Similarly every child of God has a mountain- your inheritance your land, your reason for being, your purpose in life, Your Promised Land, where you will reign with Christ and be fulfilled.
You don’t possess your mountain automatically at New Birth

Before you occupy that place, know that there are squatters there, illegal occupants, trespassers. And they need to be dispossessed for you to possess your possession. You have to dispossess the squatters little by little.

There were occupants of the Land God had for His people and they were to dispossess them little by little.

There will always be an area of your life where you will need to dispossess your enemies to occupy. It is a walk of faith and we walk by faith and not by sight. You will not see all the areas at once else you may be overwhelmed so its one day at a time. When you conquer one area, another one surfaces for you to deal with. You must not shirk your responsibility or shy away from the fight of faith.

And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land. Deut2:31

Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you. Deut3:20

Herod in the tent of Jacob

Herod was a title and all the Herod were Edomites, from the tribe of Esau. They were occupying the possession of Jacob; the inheritance of Jacob.

This is a picture of how the enemy occupies your land until you dispossess them.
This was why Herod was afraid when Jesus was born. He was afraid of being dispossessed, so he ordered all the children under 2years of age should be killed.
It was a Herod who killed John- the Baptist and James(a disciple).
41 So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, "The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob."
Gen27:41

This hatred continued for 2000years.

32 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

Judah had her mountain; the mountain Caleb asked for at his old age.

Every mountain is occupied by God or Satan.

There is no vacuum in life. God is ruling or the devil will rule.
God’s mountain should be our delight and the place of our inheritance. God should be our portion and cup of inheritance. Ps16:5-6
Esau was in the tent of Jacob ( Gen) He was a squatter: a trespasser.

God has great plans for us
Deliverance

2 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls.
Joel2:32

Genesis 13
6 Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together.

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.Jer29:11
" Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
1Cor2:9

3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.Joshua1:3

Genesis 36
7 For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together, and the land where they were strangers could not support them because of their livestock.

Jer29:11

The enemy will envy you when you have entered your inheritance, found your purpose and pursuing it.
Genesis 26
14 for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him.

They will come against you like they did David when they heard that he had been anointed king.
17 Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went down to the stronghold.
2Sam5:17

Also when Joseph saw his future in a vision his brothers envied him and wanted to destroy his vision. This is what our enemies will try to do. But we must not let them. We must trust the Dream-Giver until our dream comes true like Joseph did.

What you need to possess your possession

Obedience

19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;Isa1:19
1 "Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.
Deut28:1

Boldness
Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.Deut1:2120 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.
Phil1:20
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Heb10:19
13 For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
1Tim3:13

12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.
Eph3:12

Holiness
color=red]

17 " But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.obad1:17

Strength
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Jos1:9
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph6:10-11

What is required on the Mountain of God or your mountain to maintain dominion?
Righteousness
19 They shall call the peoples to the mountain; There they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness; For they shall partake of the abundance of the seas And of treasures hidden in the sand."
Deut33:19
Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.Deut5:33
Holiness

17 " But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.Obad1:17

Obad1:17
When some heads of state come to power they become afraid of being overthrown. This fear drives them to witchcrafts, voodoo etc and so doing bring their land under a curse.
Unless God is ruling, Satan will rule.

So recognise your mountain.
Acknowledge God as your mountain, your inheritance. Find out your personal mountain- Your purpose.

Advance to possess your possession.

Have faith in God as you advance regardless of the enemies who show up.

Be bold and strong.

Go in the strength of the Lord and not your strength.

When you enter your inheritance or climb your mountain, maintain righteousness, holiness and for your deliverance to be irreversible.
