Day Dreams

I was at the church listening to the pastor preach.

My mind was wondering, I was dreaming about the beach.

I was watching the waves, the surf crashing in my head;

Then the preacher asked “Brother, did you hear what I said”?

I was ashamed, embarrassed and belittled;

I answered “some, maybe, just a little”.

He said that’s the way most Christians attend;

They’re hot in the beginning and wake up at the end.

He said during the middle, we just go through the motions;

It’s a social event at church, instead of devotions.

I thought he’s talking about the message he’s preaching;

Then I realized this is the Christian life, he’s teaching.

Satan is going to come and whisper, “lay down take your rest;

You have done all you can, tell God it was your best”.

But when the master returns, let him find us not asleep;

Let’s all be busy finding the Shepherd’s lost sheep.

I like this Irv. Truly if Satan cannot get us busy with busyness, than he will get us with complacency. The message must be urgent ever so in us towards those lost. Blessings.

I enjoyed this because it was had perfect imagery in respect to the reality. There are many who are there physically and not spiritually and without the spiritual there is no worship. Great writing.
