How the Hunter Became the Hunted But Shielded
Acts 9:21-32; Acts 22:17-21; Galatians 1:17-24
Soon after conversion, fired by the Spirit
To preach, witness, spend and be spent for God
The wicked fanatical murderer, now turned a preacher
With boldness and the prowess of a punching preacher
He proclaimed salvation in the name of Jesus his Savior
Jews surprised, thought he had sold out to Christianity
Challenging their dogma, blindness and profanity
He told his story again and again but very few believed
Disciples treated him like a leper; he had fed them to lions
Hurled them to hyenas, thrown them into dark dingy dungeons
‘Is this not the man who hated us and supervised our demise?
Can a leopard change its skin? This is a lion in sheep clothing.
Run, run for your lives! He has a hidden agenda. He is not saved.
He is a chameleon, come to corner, capture and carry into captivity’
Saul, was sore, sorrowful in spirit, soon sailed away to Arabia
There he searched the scriptures, sought the Face of His Maker
‘Lord, to You I turn, who had changed, called, chose and charged me.
See how I am dreaded, disdained, disowned, loathed like you
Show me Your glory, reveal Yourself to me in this dark hour.’
‘You will take the Gospel to the Wild Olive Branch, the Gentiles’
A new light dawned on Saul and on the Holy Scriptures
He saw illumination, vision, revelation upon revelation
It was like stumbling upon a gold mine, or the spoils of war
He fed and fed as he read and read and grew fat in spirit
God deposited in him a divine treasure that no tongue could tell
After three full years, in the fullness of time, it was time to return
He returned in the power of the Spirit yet he met with a wall
God bulldozed the wall by bringing, Barnabas, comforter
Who paved the way for Paul to be accepted in the sheep fold.
His zeal, boldness, insight and foresight could not be denied
This made his previous friends enraged with fury, hot with hate
They made a pact, took a vow to give his body to the fowls of the air.
The hunter was now the hunted, so his new friends moved to protect
Their precious asset, the enemy turned a champion of the Gospel
The only way out was via a wall built on the City gate
So this disciple was let down the wall as a precious cargo
And so he escaped the lions he had let loose in his fanatical days.
The Church grew, going from glory to glory and grace to grace.
Read Today's Bible Story in the portal if you can, for a fuller gist of the story.
Yes, the hunter was hunted. He was as it were reaping what he had sown because the scriptures cannot be broken. Nevertheless, God used his troubles and tribulations to refine him and advance him; plunder hell to populate heaven.
No matter our past, God is able to package it and use it to bless others and bring glory to His Name. He did it with Paul; He can do it with you and me.

I did a bit of soul-searching before writing it. I was not sure if it should be left like that and let the read deduce the truth or help unravel it as it may not be readily apparent.
Thank for the confirmation of doing the right thing.
