John 11:12-16
KJV(i) 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. 14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him. 16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

12 His disciples replied, “Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better.” 13 Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep.
14 So then he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, 15 and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”
16 Then Thomas (also known as Didymus) said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
12 Sleep often helps with healing; it is something that allows the body to heal itself, rest. Often times a good sleep and plenty of water can heal the most common sicknesses from a cold to flu.
13 He disciples often as the others thought of the physically when Jesus often times was speaking spiritually. Lazarus would wake and pass to live as we will if we have Him, Lazarus life was not over is was just on pause until he woke in paradise.
14 Jesus sometimes had to speak clearly, He sometimes has to do this with us because we do not listen to what He is saying.
15 Jesus knew that He was going to raise Lazarus. This would change things people would start following Jesus strongly until after the Pharisees captured Him. The Pharisees had to do something about Jesus after this because of the faith it allowed people to have.
16 The Pharisees sought to kill Jesus the last time they went to Judea, Thomas thought if Jesus came back they would kill Him and them while they would it was in God’s timing not theirs that He died.

You have explained it so well and there is nothing to add or differ with your thoughts. I do agree that sometimes deep sleep does bring healing, like when doctors put a patient in an induced comma.
