With the years without even people knowing it we slip into paganism, We celebrate Christmas and we think we are honoring Yahweh. Well so did the Hebrews that came out of Egypt, when they made a golden calf, they thought in their heart of hearts that it was okay to worship Yahweh in that manner, did Yahweh liked it no!
How important is a name? To God a name carries a lot of weight, and He wants to be called by His real name which is Yahweh. It does not matter how you were taught since childhood, or how the Almighty was called by your ancestors. You must leave your western mentality behind and the traditions that were past on by man through the generations, and start to call Him, by His real name which is Yahweh, only because this is what he requires of you. Now lets go to the word of God and see what he has to say to us about this. In Genesis, Yahweh created man in His own image and likeness, and the man was to name every creature including his wife Eve. To God a name is very important, as you can see throughout the whole Bible, it is full of peoples names, and they all have a history, and a lineage. The Bible tells us that the Messiah will come from David’s lineage, and Judah’s. If it is not for the name of Yeshuas lineage how would the Jews of that day know it was Yeshua, the one spoken of! I know the Bible you are reading will say the Lord or Jehovah. The lord is a title that most English home land owners is given to, as for Jehovah not even close. This is taken out of the Jewish Bible Jeremiah 16:19- 21{`Watch, I shall send for many fishermen, Yahweh declares, and these will fish them up; next, I shall send for many huntsmen, and these will hunt them out of every mountain, every hill, and out of the holes in the rocks. For my eyes watch all their ways, these are not hidden from me, and their guilt does not escape my gaze. I shall requite their guilt and their sin twice over, since they have polluted my country with the carcasses of their Horrors, and filled my heritage with their Abominations." The conversion of the nations Yahweh, my strength, my stronghold, my refuge in times of distress! To you the nations will come from the remotest parts of the earth and say, `our fathers inherited nothing but Delusion, Futility of no use whatsoever. Can human beings make their own gods? “Yes and I’ll elaborate latter on this. These are not gods at all!" `Now listen, I will make them acknowledge, this time I will make them acknowledge My hand and My might; and then they will know that Yahweh is My Name."} Genesis 4:26 {A son was also born to Seth, and he named him Enosh. This man was the first to invoke the name Yahweh. } A name means something that we can relate to, for either good or bad. Example when the angels came to announce the birth of Isaac They told Sarah that she would conceived within a year, since she was 90 years old she did not believe it, and she laughed. So the angel told her his name will be laughter. Now about can human beings make other gods I” say yes and that is what it has been done in the modern Christian Church. For example, when Nimrod’s wife died, tradition has it that the gods sent her back to earth in a giant egg, which landed in the Euphrates river. The egg broke open and out came the bare breasted goddess of sexual desire, Easter which was the reincarnated wife of Nimrod, the Exalted Queen of heaven, and to prove her divinity, she turned a bird into an egg laying rabbit. The cultic priest of Babylon sacrificed babies on Easter Sunday and dyed the eggs in the blood of the babies. Modern churches follow this wicked pagan tradition without knowing what they are doing. They just follow the pagan tradition, and they believed they are worshiping the true God, but Yahweh the creator calls it an abomination. Going back to the name every time you read the Lord it means Yahweh in Hebrew, Exodus 3:15{ God further said to Moses, "You are to tell the Israelites, `Yahweh, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My Name for all time, and thus I am to be invoked for all generations to come.} When God tells us this is His name for all generations, we better obey Him. The name Yahweh appears like seven hundred times in the Hebrew Scriptures. God wants His name to be evoked honored and cherished for all generations. My name is Anastasia, do I like to be called by my name yes? Would I like to be called Anesthesia no! Since in America nobody seems to pronounce my name right, I go by Anna. God said you shall not take the name of your God in vain, which in the Hebrew means vanity, empty, worthless or even false in the Hebrew. So by not calling Yahweh by His name we are breaking His laws. The Israelites were to afraid to use His sacred name so they used Teacher or Lord or Baal Deuteronomy 12:32 {`Whatever I am now commanding you, you must keep and observe, adding nothing to it, or taking nothing away.} The Jews has broken the law by adding names which are not told by God to do, names that are practiced and void of power. Elijah asked God that it would not rain and it did not rain for three and a half years. 1 kings18: 21-40 Elijah then said to them, "I, I alone, am left as a prophet of Yahweh, while the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty. Let two bulls be given us; let them choose one for themselves, dismember it but not set fire to it. I in my turn shall prepare the other bull, but not set fire to it. You must call on the name of your god, and I shall call on the name of Yahweh; the god who answers with fire, is God indeed." The people all answered, "Agreed!" Elijah then said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one bull and begin, for there are more of you. Call on the name of your god but light no fire." They took the bull and prepared it, and from morning to midday they called on the name of Baal. "O Baal, answer us!" they cried, but there was no voice, no answer, as they performed their hobbling dance round the altar which they had made. Midday came, and Elijah mocked them. "Call louder," he said, "for he is a god: he is preoccupied or he is busy, or he has gone on a journey; perhaps he is asleep and needs to be woken up!" So they shouted louder and gashed themselves, as their custom was, with swords and spears until the blood flowed down them. Midday passed, and they ranted on until the time when the offering is presented; but there was no voice, no answer, no sign of attention. Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come over to me," and all the people came over to him. He repaired Yahweh's altar which had been torn down. Elijah took twelve stones, corresponding to the number of tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of Yahweh had come, "Israel is to be your name," and built an altar in the name of Yahweh. Round the altar he dug a trench of a size to hold two measures of seed. He then arranged the wood, dismembered the bull, and laid it on the wood. Then he said, "Fill four jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood." They did this. He said, "Do it a second time;" they did it a second time. He said, "Do it a third time;" they did it a third time. The water flowed round the altar until even the trench itself was full of water. At the time when the offering is presented Elijah, the prophet stepped forward. "Yahweh, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel," he said, "let them know today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant, that I have done all these things at your command. Answer me, Yahweh, answer me, so that this people may know that you, Yahweh, are God and are winning back their hearts." Then Yahweh's fire fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and licked up the water in the trench. When all the people saw this, they fell on their faces. They seized them, and Elijah took them down to the Kishon, and there he slaughtered them.} (The drought ends) Elijah challenge four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal which in English is pronounce prophets of the Lord. So you see the difference, and the power of the name. Jeremiah 12:16-17 {And if they carefully learn my people's ways and swear by my name, `As Yahweh lives', as they have taught my people to swear by Baal, then they will be re-established among my people. But if any nation refuses to listen, I shall uproot it for ever and destroy it, Yahweh declares." Yeshua said you will not see me again until you say blessed is he who comes in the name of Yahweh. And in Numbers 6: 22-27 Yahweh instructed how the people of Israel must bless. {Yahweh spoke to Moses and said, `Speak to Aaron and his sons and say: `This is how you must bless the Israelites. You will say: May Yahweh bless you and keep you. May Yahweh let his face shine on you and be gracious to you. May Yahweh show you his face and bring you peace.' This is how they must call down my name on the Israelites, and then I shall bless them." There it is in plain English, Yahweh is the fathers name and Yeshua is His son. So when you pray from now on asked Yahweh in the name of Yeshua. The Jews added many laws of their own to the Torah and when Yeshua came, he broke them, and he was stripping away at their man made laws, but he never broke one of the commandments of the Torah. YAHWEH

The name of God of Israel does not appear as Yahweh in the original text. To understand the Old Testament, we need to understand the way of worship of Jews. Jews never invoked the name of God, rather it was Rabbis or High Priest who did that on behalf of Israel. What we read in the Bible, people calling on the name of God were either Prophets or belonged to the tribe of Levi.

The original scripture contains 4 lettered word YHWH that is known as Tetragrammaton. Tetragrammaton is transliterated in German as JHWH, and in English YHWH, YHVH, JHWH or JHVH.

Jews called on the name of God like this; HaShem (The Name) Shem HaMeforash (The ineffable Name) The
Masoretes added vowel marks and grammar points to the Hebrew letters to preserve much earlier features of Hebrew, for use in chanting the Hebrew, they added the vowels for "Adonai" (= "My Lord"), the word to use when the Bible text is read. Also theSeptuagint (Greek translation) and Vulgate (Latin translation) use the word "Lord" (κύριος and dominus, respectively).

Historical Overview

During the Babylonian captivity, the Hebrew language spoken by the Jews was replaced by the Aramic language of their Babylonian captors, which was closely related to Hebrew and, while sharing many vocabulary words in common, contained some words that sounded the same or similar but had other meanings. In Aramaic, the Hebrew word for “blaspheme” used in Leviticus 24:16, “Anyone who blasphemes the name of YHWH must be put to death” carried the meaning of “pronounce” rather than “blaspheme”. When the Jews began speaking Aramaic, this verse was understood to mean, “Anyone who pronounces the name of YHWH must be put to death.” Since then, Jews have maintained the custom of not pronouncing the name, but use Adonai (“my Lord [plural of majesty]”) instead. Tradition

According to Talmud, when a High Priest was to die, he used to call on the next High Priest and used to whisper the name of God in his ear. Even David, when he sinned called on the name of God like, "God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob"

Hebrew Language

Please do understand that Hebrew Language although complete is not like English. It is a sound of breath and a meaning is understood through the context it was spoken in.

Baal

Baal does mean master or lord, but it is the context that clears the meaning. The Ba'al you are refering to is, Hadad. The name Hadad was only used by the priests and the rest of the people used Ba'al. Hadad was a god of thunder, rain, fertility and agriculture.

Now regarding Christmas and Easter, if I apply the your logic, then, even calling God is also wrong, because their are many faiths that call their deity God. Only Muslims use the name "Allah" but in modern day they also use God but prefer Allah.

Jews never recorded the birth date rather they recorded the death date, that is why you only read birth of Moses and Jesus only. To them, death is a new beginning. I have heard people saying celebrating Christmas or Easter is wrong. I don't believe in this. Celebrating the arrival of our LORD and Savior is no sin and celebrating His death and resurrection is also no sin. Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on the seventh day of Jesus' birth because they do it the way Jews did. The Jews consecrated the child to God on 7th day as it was day of circumcision as it was ordered by God in the Old Testament.

Easter is celebrated due to Spring Equinox and not because of Eastera goddess. Remember when Jesus gave up His life, the sun shone no more. So it was due to Spring Equinox, 12 hours day and 12 hours night. People are misled by the myth and the reality. This is also proven by Scientists of NASA, that when Jesus died, it was complete Equinox and it is only once in the history of the earth that a total Equinox happened.

Moreover, for me everyday is Christmas and everyday is Easter. If you keep on joining Christian historical days with pagan days, then I think living every day and calling on name of God every day will be a sin. In Sri Lanka, a Buddhist country, there more than 150 days they celebrate. Every day, some where in the part of the world, a pagan day is celebrated.

I believe that whether you call God, Yahwey, Jehovah, Adonai, Lord - we must call upon God in the name of Jesus Christ and this is the most appropriate way to call on the name of God.

Jesus Christ told us to call God Heavenly Father, so I believe instead of getting what to call God, we should call God Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
