I Now See
I Now See
I was still a young boy, when I first saw God’s grace.
A shotgun slipped off a truck’s bumper, its barrel in my face.
I had no time to grab it; my hands on the tailgate looking down.
I watched in slow motion; as its butt struck the ground.
I was dead in an instant; killed in a freak accident.
The shotgun slide opened, ejecting the shell that was spent.
But I did not hear the noise or feel the blast rip my face.
And I did not feel the hand of God; as he held me in his embrace.
Looking down into that barrel, I anticipated the sound.
But what I saw was unbelievable, the unfired shell on the ground.
I wish I could say at that moment; I realized God’s grace.
I’m sorry but I didn’t, I still had more life to waste.
It wasn’t until 1994; when my life was changed.
And looking back before that time; I now, see God so plain.

Re: I Now See
Wow Irv! This is so powerful! Reminds me of many times on the farm with accidents that I should have been dead, but was "spared". A great poem and reminder! Blessings.
