God's Plan
God’s Plan
I wasn’t looking for my rib on the day we met.
But God had other ideas, I didn’t know that yet.
We were in our teens, not a hint of real life.
And yet, God knew she would come, to be my wife.
I remember going home, and how her first kiss did linger.
I guess I should have imagined a ring on her finger.
And God brought us to the place, where she would be my wife.
And a couple years later, he brought a son into our life.
God helped us along our path, during the next few years.
He helped through the good, the bad and all of our tears.
I guess God started stirring my wife’s heart and mind.
She started taking our son, to Bible school at times.
And the years began to mount and we were two lost kids.
And some of the things I done, I hope God’s face was hid.
But God had other plans for me and her later, I know.
He used her mother’s passing to save our very souls.
Jesus came into our hearts; now we’re in God’s hands.
God knew along time ago how we fit into his plans.
And I could be blessed no better with Jesus in my life.
But, God knew who else I needed and he made her my wife.

Re: God's Plan
Dear Irv
Thank you for a very passionate poem. Indeed it is to be framed and put up on a wall. I really loved it and I hope Fenny would also love it. These days Fenny is on fire, writing so much.
Regarding rib, I am still looking for my rib and I think someone stole it from me.
While reading the poem I remembered a verse from the Bible, although you are thanking God in the poem for a gift so precious as your wife, but I think many will learn from your life, how to love thier wives. (wow! my sentence is rhyming).
Anyways I am no poet, but I loved the poem very much.
God bless you and your family

Whenever, I read your poems, they have instruction, and I always remember Proverbs 10:11. You are a blessing and my God use you more and more to His honor and glory. The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life. (Proverbs 10:11)
God bless you and your family
Thank You

Thank You ever so much Fenny for all of your comments. I am not worthy of any of the praise for anything that has been written here. God gets all the glory.
In 1994 I accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and for five years my soul was on fire for Him. Then I fell; the next few years I drifted as the true Proverb, the dog has returned to his own vomit. But then God spoke to me again and my soul burned for Him to be in charge of my life again. I asked Him for forgiveness and asked Him to return to me the Joy of His salvation; much like David in Psalms 51. I asked Him not only to return the joy but to grant my a double portion; much like Elisha. To make this long story short He forgave me and started using me. Much to my surprise, God has moved me into places that I never would have entered. Again to God be all the glory. Blessings to you and your family. Thanks again for your comments upon these ramblings. Irv
