US religious liberty body warns about Taliban in Pakistan

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom has issued a warning about the increasing influence of the Taliban in Pakistan, one of 13 countries named by the body as having the worst records of religious persecution, reports Ecumenical News International.
"With Taliban-associated extremists advancing to within 60 miles of the Pakistani capital of Islamabad last week, the relevance of our work is crystal clear," the commission's chairperson, Felice Gaer, told journalists when the religious freedom body released its annual report.
