They want to kill the song, end the day.
They conspire to repress and depress.
Tell me, who can annul what You say?
I’ll keep wearing Your praise as a dress.

For this purpose You gave me my breath;
To shine in the dark, come what come may.
So no matter the height or the depth,
I know who holds my hand – The Way.

Plan your plans and they will come to naught;
Throw your arrows and they’ll return to you.
I am blood- washed and blood-bought;
In your pot of fury you will stew.

Now, my face I turn to the Most High,
Who remains the same, the Righteous Judge.
I know, soon, very soon, He’ll lift me high.
In beggarly alley, I will not lodge.
