God’s Simple Pleasures


Thoughts of simple pleasures which God has blessed us with
Like sleeping under a tin roof and listening to the rain that hits
Like finding some money that you didn’t know you had
Like hearing the first word of your child, in my case it was “Dad”

Like telling a funny story, reminiscing with your closest friends
Skinny dipping in the lake, a tea party of pretend
Like making a yellow light, like a pull through parking space
Finishing what you’ve started, bringing a smile on someone face

A familiar smell, like fresh clean bed sheets, I submit                                                
Thoughts of simple pleasures which God has blessed us with
Like realizing when you wake, you have more time to sleep
Like seeing friends stumble over his awkward clumsy feet

Like relaxing outdoors, a beautiful view, a favorite spot
The first sip of a beverage when you’re thirsty and hot
Receiving a handwritten letter or package via snail mail
Like clothes straight from the dryer, how they warm you so well

Holding hands with someone you love, special time spent
Like hearing just the right song at just the right moment
Having a good laugh, walking barefoot in the water
Like seeing Christ accepted by your first granddaughter
