I Find Myself


I find myself missing you; so very much each day
I know it hasn’t been that long, since you slipped away
The night you died I tried so hard, to keep you here with me
I guess there are things in life, which aren’t meant to be

I remember your call that morning, not to mow it was too cold
And I said that I wouldn’t, the last lie to you I told
I think of our time at the table, after we finished mowing grass
And I look for you on the front porch, where I saw you last

The sixtieth anniversary, was nothing but a blur
Thanksgiving came and went, I’m not real sure it occurred
I have so many questions, that I’ve never asked before
I wish I’d have known that evening, you’d be with the Lord

Precious time I could’ve spent with you, time I sought to waste
Christmas is around the corner, things seem so out of place
I see the loss in Mama’s eyes; she seems so sad without you
I tell her you’re in a far better place, and this I know is true

I’m going through so many emotions, since you passed away
And I find myself missing you, so very much each day
Yet when I take the time to listen, my Savior says it’s alright
But I still find myself crying, in the middle of the night
