Do not PATCH Yourself

No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pul away from the garment, making the tear worse...(Mathew 9:16-17)

When we accept Jesus Christ as our LORD and Savior, we repent of our sins. The people who are wise, leave their old ways and start as a new being in Jesus Christ.

The word repent means to think the other way. When we leave our sinful nature, we must stop sinning too. In Jesus Christ, we come to know what is good and what is wrong.

We cannot become one with Jesus if we keep our old ways. It will be just like sewing an unshrunk cloth to mend an old garment. To make ourselves presentable to God, we must direct our lives, as God has commanded us to live in the Bible.

God does not want us to like an old cloth that is mended with an unshrunk cloth. God wants us to be;

I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless (Genesis 17:1)

I like this one and the explanation you have given. It is so true that we cannot live with our old sinful lives and with Jesus. We have to make a choice, either we let go of our sinful nature or let go of Jesus. I pray that people make the right choice and that is: JESUS CHRIST

I agree with you Daniel and Dove, that we must change ourselves and leave our sinful lives behind. I would go and say that we must change our clothes.

Before accepting Jesus as my Savior, I used to dress up as a punk then one day a Pastor told me that through our actions, we must look like follower of Jesus. I changed my clothes and acted like a normal human being.

This is really a great message and you have explained it well. In modern terms, if get our car painted, we need to remove all the paint and then paint it. If this procedure is not done then we will not get the right color and the color will also tear apart and it will look worse even from the way it looked. I got his thought because I recently got my car repainted. The paint shop explained me the whole procedure and I thought of sharing it here.
