Jerusalem and People
Jerusalem and People
Jerusalem, O Jerusalem, thy walls have been breached
Thy city gates are ashes, lying in the streets
Thy iron bars are torn down; thy enemy enters with ease
And thy remnant is afflicted, especially by disease
Hear our prayers O Lord; grant us thy mercy to rebuild
Draw nigh to us O Lord; let us be within thy will.
Jerusalem is a reproach; a disgrace to those who believe
O Lord, how long must our souls wait; how long shall we grieve?
Arise and let us rebuild; strengthen your hands for the deed
Jerusalem, O Jerusalem; the hand of thy Lord is on thee
People, O people, by sin your walls are breached
Your heart’s gate is burnt ashes, lying in the street
With no iron bars or locks, to hold Satan at bay
Your soul stands in jeopardy; both in night and day
But your soul can be redeemed; not to go to waste
By God’s wonderful mercy and God’s saving grace
Draw strength from the Lord; His blessings for you to savor
Ask Jesus into your heart; accept Him as Lord and Savior
Arise and testify; give glory to God for Christ’ deed
People, O people, Jesus died for thee
