Lot's Wife
Lot’s Wife
Her name is not mentioned in God’s Holy Book
And I wondered why it wasn’t; so I went to take a look
The scriptures say her husband, was a godly man
And her uncle was well known, as Faithful Abraham
But in those days religion, was rare upon this earth
With no Bibles or ministers, no missionaries nor church
So the knowledge of God, was confined to a favored few
And she’d seen the faith and prayers, of this righteous two
She’d seen God’s ruling principles, governing their lives
Their love for God was no secret; not something they’d hide
Yet knowing Abraham and observing Lot’s devotions
Wouldn’t get her closer to God; by just going through the motions
Her eyes were not on God; her conscience never aroused
Even though she saw the angels, dealing with the Sodom’s crowd
Even through the warnings, as angels lead her by the hand
She died graceless and godless, looking back to her homeland
So Jesus cries out to us, “Remember Lot’s wife”
To search our souls for the Holy Spirit; to turn about our life
For what good is privilege, if we have not God’s grace
Being mindful of Lot’s wife; might save us from Hell’s face

Re: Lot's Wife
You have the blessing of God to preach with a style. Yes you are right that we should remember all those who are mentioned in the Bible who lost their souls and their story in mentioned for us to learn from them. Blessings in Jesus name.

Re: Lot's Wife
I think that you can write a poetic commentary on the Bible because it is so easy to understand. Keep sharing and blessing us.

Worth remembering!
Great to have you back, Irv, and with a seasoned pen and time echo of the demise of Lot's wife from looking back.
Thank you for sharing.
May it ring in our ears, so that we will not look back after putting our hands to the plough.

Re: Lot's Wife
Welcome back dear Irv and I really missed you and your poems. Fenny has been quite active and busy. It is a blessing to see you sharing your faith inspiring thoughts once again.
Lot's Wife
Thank you both Fenny and Daniel, it is good to be back; sometimes we stumble and sometimes we go beyond the hedge; I lost my place for a little bit. But God has this way of leading us back to where He would like for us to be, Thanks again for your comments and may God continue to bless you both with His love, Irv
