When We Witness

When We Witness
We tell the truth
That we do know-
What we have seen,
What we have heard,
Experienced in life.

We need not apologise
Tell lies, disguise, surmise
Compromise or theorise.

To talk about Jesus
You must:
Have been to the cross,
Exchanged His strength
For your weakness,
His life for your life;
Die daily, live for Him.

You have to know Him
Personally-not in your head
But in your heart for a start.
He must have touched you,
Taught you, transformed you,
Changed you-inside out.

You need His Spirit’s power
If you are not to cower
The Holy Spirit emboldens
Guides, reminds, strengthens
Teaches, Foretells, inspires
Renews, Opens our eyes,
baptizes, prophesies,
Anoints, counsels, comforts,
Corrects, convicts, Commissions,
Indwells, in-fills, Instructs, Rebirths,
Rebukes, restores, regenerates,
Rejuvenate, revives, resurrects,
Works the miraculous

Prayer

Holy Spirit, Come, fall afresh
I need you badly to refresh
Without you I am aimless, dry
Come and lift me beyond the sky.

Come and guide, remind and inspire
Without You I fall into disrepair
Come and renew, my eyes open
Le every yoke of bondage be broken

Come, anoint, correct and counsel
Baptize me to rise to excel
Fill my cup till running over
Help me overtake, all recover.

Come, instruct, rebuke and restore.
Show me goodies you have in store.
Come, resurrect dreams that are dead
Come and part the sea that is red.

Come, commission, convict of sin
Rid me of the sin that’s within
Come and comfort, teach, embolden
Destroy every yoke and burden.

⁸But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
