If I Could Spend Another Lifetime With You

As I reach the time of my existence
My thoughts turn to you
Of that young girl that came to church
In a wagon pulled by a mule

For sixty years weíve been together
Longer than most folks these days
Trembling hands on my guitar strings
Iíve played to you, my love, always

With a raspy voice of uncertain tones
I sing this song to my God so true
Humbly asking if I could spend
Another lifetime with you

Now my eyes begin to dim
A gentle tug, from the Lord Iíve known
I hear the sounds of an angelic choir
Beckoning my eternal home

Know in your heart, my love for you
My life thatís been more than blessed
I lift my hands towards heavenís gate
In your arms, I draw my last breath

With a raspy voice of uncertain tones
I sing this song to my God so true
Humbly asking if I could spend
Another lifetime with you

Beautiful Reflection

Post  fennywest on Thu 08 Nov 2012, 12:29 pm

What a beautiful, wonderful and faithful reflection of the Lordís goodness, loving-kindness and presence, through thick and thin, summer and winter, making us vintage wine even in our old age, as we reach for our eternal home.

He is Jehovah Shammah- the ever-present Lord. He can be counted on in the valley or on the mountain, in the fire or in the storm.

Thank you for sharing.
Remain blessed.

2 Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
24 " The LORD is my portion," says my soul, " Therefore I hope in Him!"
25 The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.
26 It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the LORD.
