Ten Minutes of Fame Remembered

Ten minutes of fame
Should have been of shame
If I had resisted and refused
To be lifted by those boys
Who carried me like a toy.
But thank God for the word
In season which I heard:
‘You better join them
It would have been mayhem.

But God turned it into humour
Which today, I savour.

A lesson in humility
That brings victory
Not taking yourself seriously
Trusting in His security
And His sovereignty.

And when you’re forced
To the jobcentre
And threatened with security
You have to trust in His security.
To keep you against that Day
As He works out His way.
Another lesson in humility
On the road to destiny.

And when you cannot pay your rent
It is surely yet another dent
To look to Him and trust
That you will never rust.

He is burning off the dross
And putting on the gloss
Bringing out the beauty
Thrashing out the glory.
Adding glimmer and glamour.
