John 9:17-19

King James Version (KJV)

17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.

18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.

19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?

John 9:17-19

Revised Standard Version (RSV)

17 So they again said to the blind man, “What do you say about him, since he has opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”

18 The Jews did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of the man who had received his sight, 19 and asked them, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

17 They may have wanted to trap this man or have him say that this man was nothing big; he might have done this out of fear, which may have been what was expected. This man’s parents would later show fear. This man knew He was a prophet after have though on it a time but, he would soon see the truth that Jesus was far more than just another prophet.

18 They refused to accept Jesus could do anything good. They were blinded and they could not accept Jesus as a healer and of the Lord because they could not do this they would not know Him as Lord. There are many out there who no matter what happen they will not come to the Lord. No one comes to the Lord unless He first draws them. They wanted proof that this man was born blind but it is by faith that the truth is accepted.

19 They question the parents of this man. These men ask not to seek the face of the Lord and His power but to cause trouble and name blame. These men hated Jesus and some never accepted Him. We as believers should answer any questions we can answer these questions as long as we are given an answer from Him, there may come times where we do not have the answer for a question we know the answer to, this often happens when the person is not seeking the Truth. We may not always have the right answers but we should not answer things we are not sure of, it is better not to answer than to mislead. Some people who ask question are trying to seek His face.
