The Temptation of Jesus Empty The Temptation of Jesus

Post  Waqar Daniel Wed 09 Jan 2008, 12:48 am

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting for forty and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, "If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."

Jesus answered,"It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (Mathew 4:1-4)

Reading this passage, a real story came to my mind. Few years back I knew a young God fearing girl, who fell in love with a drunkard. This girl told her parents about her choice and they objected. They said, "The man you love is of no good, he is not a man of God and does not fear God. He is a drunkard, so marry someone else".

This girl had lust in her eyes and was pleased what satan presented her with. She told her parents, "He is a handsome man and God will surely change him."

The parents desperate to save their only child, contacted the Pastor of their Church. The Pastor prayed for that girl and visited their house to convince her. The Pastor said, "Look dear, I have known you since your birth. You are a God fearing child and God loves you. I have prayed for you and God does not want you to marry this man."

The girl replied, "He is not of a bad character, he drinks though, but he is very nice and loves me the most. I am very lucky to have hm in my life. Out of so many girls, he picked me to be his would-be-wife."

The Pastor said, "Dear, God loves you more than anyone. God loves you and wants the best for you. Atleast pray to God and wait. He will bring a God fearing man just like you in your life."

The girl would not listen as her eyes were shut close with the lust and said, "If God loves me as you say, He will change him into a good man."

Finally the day came and both married. the parents walked slowly to their house wondering what will happen to their only child and the bride and bridegroom went their way to live a new life.

Everyday they used to fight and the man would beat the girl. She cried to him, "Why do you beat me?" But he was drunk and the cries fell on deaf ears. Then two years passed, the man became more violent because now the girl wanted him to change according to the word of God.

He used to get drunk more and started staying late. He started to beat and curse her more and more. One day, he accused her of having an affair with the neighbor while he was not at home.

The girl wept and said, "Why do you accuse me falsely? I left everything for you. I did not listen to my parents, my friends, the Pastor and God. Even then you accuse me falsely. I have loved you more than anything, for I left everything for you."

So the night passed, the man fell on his bed drunk and the girl went to pray to another room. The morning came, the man rose up from his bed and called his wife to make breakfast. But there was no reply. He looked for her and found her dead on the floor. The girl commmitted suicide as she could not take more.

Indeed, "Man lives on every word that comes out of the mouth of God", The girl really lost everything she had.
