Three Little Trees

I heard a song about three little trees.

How they dreamed; what would they be.

And over the years they grew straight and tall.

One day they heard the noise of the axe and the saw.

The first little tree visualized a great barn with a large hay loft.

But, the first was used to make a stable and a trough

The second little tree visualized a great ship with varnished coats.

Yet, the second was used to make a small fishing boat.

But the third little tree only wanted to point toward the sky.

Yet, the third was used to make a cross, where a man died.

But there in the stable God did uplift;

The first little tree saw God perfect gift.

And later in Galilee another blessing was done;

The second little tree carried God’s only son.

Alas, the third little tree stood on a hill side, bloody and scored.

And God said don’t be sad, you’re pointing the way to the Lord.

Irv, I have read something similiar of a story of how the tree who wanted to be something
ended up being the cross. This reminds me of that story. Truly your writing style is remarkable.
