Conquering the Credit Crunch Empty Conquering the Credit Crunch

Post  Fenny West Sun 02 Nov 2008, 8:15 am

There was black Friday 1869
It was a grave financial sign;
Then Black Monday, Tuesday
and Thursday 1929;
Black Monday October 19, 1987
Black Wednesday in 1992.
Now credit crunch, in 2008

Surely Credit crunch looms large
Sending tremors, jitters
Fears and tear to many,
Even the rich and famous.
It came like a thief in the night,
Not just local but global.
Many cannot sleep in the night,
Wondering where next it’d hit.

Banks hitherto on the moon
Are now in a big swoon.
Their backs bent, being broken.
Bank balances in the balance;
Dented, disappearing in smoke,
Falling free; managers seeing red;
Share prices plummet
Loud financial worries trumpet
What shall the righteous do?

Believe in the Lord
Act on His infallible Word
Cast your bread on the waters
Seek first His Kingdom
To see financial freedom
He’ll supply all your needs,
As you sow precious seeds.
Bring all the tithe and offering.

Isaac sowed in the time of famine
and netted a hundred fold return.
The disciples gave generously
and no one was in need.

That boy gave up his lunch,
Jesus touched it and fed over five thousand.
That widow fed the prophet
with her all and God supplied
more than she could contain.

The prophet predicted a great fall in price
Some doubted, but it happened
And they could not partake.

Give and it shall be given to you
pressed down, shaken together
and running over.
God will open the windows of heaven
and pour out blessings
such that there will not be room
enough to contain it.

Those who go out weeping, sowing,
precious seeds shall doubtless
return with a great harvest.
God will make His grace abound to you
so that you, having all sufficiency,
will abound to good works.

Your obedience, like Abraham,
will trigger His supply
to exceed your expectation.
His blessings will overtake you.

You will be blessed in the city
and blessed in the countryside
You will be blessed in your going out
and blessed in your coming in.
God will make a Way
where there is no way
Bringing forth water from a rock
and raining manna from on high.
He will make a difference between
His people and those of the world.
In His economy, there is no credit crunch.
In His economy, there is no boom and bust.

Whatever you reach your hands
to touch will be blessed.
Your basket will be blessed
and so shall be your warehouse.
Oppression and depression
shall be far from you.

You shall eat to your satisfaction
and your sleep shall be sweet.
You will not be afraid of bad news
Like the credit crunch,
knowing that you know that
Your God is faithful and will
supply your lunch to munch.
Jehovah Jireh is His Name!

4And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
5So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
6And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
7And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
8And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
9Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
10So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
12And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
13And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
15And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
1Kings 17:4-16

1Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
2And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.
3Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
4And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
5So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
6And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
2Kings 4:1-6
