Fear No Evil

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings."—Psalm 112:7
Bad news abound. Evil tidings stride like a colossus. They parade the streets. This is what sells newspapers. Reporters are mad about bad news. They dig for it like miners dig for gold. Their careers depend on how much dirt they can dig up. The Christian, the righteous, uncompromising is usually a fair game and target for scrutiny.

Daniel was in this place as they could not find anything to accuse him about except for what concerns his spiritual life. ( Dan6:5) They conspired and conned the king to issue a decree that contravened his devotional life. Bad news came that he was not allowed to pray as usual. It was a decree that could condemn him to death. Daniel knew his God and prayed to Him as usual. God came first. He would fear no evil. Daniel did not fall for it. ( Dan6:10) He would not compromise his standards despite the fact that he was a foreigner and had been privileged to be chosen as one of the leaders. (Dan6)

David was in this place when he looked after his father’s sheep. Suddenly a lion would surface and take one of the sheep away for lunch, scurrying to its hide out. David pursued it and delivered the sheep from its mouth. He did the same with bears. His confidence was not in himself but in the Lord. That experience prepared him for the day he met Goliath. He recalled to the king how God had delivered him in the past and could do the same that day. He pleaded with Saul, who with his army were sore afraid, humiliated and taunted by Goliath. (1Sam17:34-37)

Daniel’s friends also faced a show down after the King made an image of gold and decreed that everyone must bow down when they heard the music play. They refused and were reported. The king was furious and gave them a second chance but they were adamant that they were not going to bow. They told him “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Dan3:16-18)
.’ They covered all their options .they were prepared to die. God gave them a testimony through the test.

We need to be resolute about our trust in the Lord, regardless of the threats against us. The disciples when threatened not to preach in the name of Jesus, were undaunted and their persecutors took notice that they had been with Jesus.( Acts4:13).

Repeatedly the scriptures tell us 365 times, ‘fear not’. That is one pill per day to keep fear away. Fear can kill you many times before you die. Fear is, False Evidence Appearing Real. Faith is, Forgetting Adversity I Trust Him.

What is the battle arrayed against you today. What is the bad news you have received? Take it to the Lord in prayer. Be anxious about nothing but in everything by prayer and petition let your request be made known to the Lord and the peace of God which passes all understanding will mount guard over your heart David ‘Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.( Ps23:4) That is the key His presence makes the difference, Acknowledge it. Walk in it abide in it. Hold on to it and fear will flee away.
Meditate on these scriptures: John14:27, Gen15:1, Isa43:1-3,, -41:13, Phil4:6-8, Prov28:1, Ps23:4-6, Jos1:9, pray and you will have peace profound.
