Saved but not Perfect
And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew
in his life.
Here in this scripture we see God's mercy at work in Samson's life. Samson was a mighty man of God with such supernatural strength. Though this was a mighty man of God, Samson had some weaknesses in his life. One of those weaknesses was a temper problem, this can be found in (Judges 15:1-8). This is a humorous portion of God's word you will enjoy. Samson goes to be with his wife and his wife's father had given her to someone else because the father thought that Samson hated her. This, as you can imagine made Samson a little upset so he found three hundred foxes and tied their tales together and set them on fire and loosed the foxes in the corn fields of the Philistines burning down all the fields, you have to study this in Judges you will enjoy I promise.
But despite all the weaknesses of Samson he still had the mercy of God on his life. Now at the end of Samson's life we see God's mercy one last time because of prayer. Prayer was heard and the Lord avenged Samson and destroyed the whole company of Philistines that were there to kill Samson. The Lord avenged Samson so much that more Philistines were killed at Samson's death then in his whole life time. (Judges 16:30) The thing that I want you see here is that no matter what sins you are struggling with God's mercy is abundant for you. Samson had more than one weakness in his life and God still used him greatly. He even answered his prayer for strength at the end of his life. Never feel that Jesus will never use you because there is some weakness in your life. The most important thing you can do is never give up. The Lord will deliver you from that problem that holds you captive.
Even though that sin is a weakness in your life it doesn't make it alright to keep living that way. Seek the Lord with all your heart and you will find liberty and abundance. Just because you keep on making mistakes doesn't mean the Lord is finished with you, He is looking for someone to trust Him and His power to deliver. Remember Jesus isn't looking for someone who is perfect; He's looking for someone that will surrender completely.
