Stranded Here
Stranded Here
I was there the day of the rapture in the blink of an eye they were gone.
I looked to see what happened and realized God had taken them home.
I saw others left; they seemed just as stunned as me.
God had come to take us home; he had not taken me.
But Lord, I’ve been a good man; attended church most my life.
I’ve always called upon you in times of troubles and strife.
I’ve worked hard around the church, while awaiting your return.
Falling to my knees, I finally realized; salvation is not earned.
I had heard the Master calling and pretended to give him an ear.
Now, it was all over; I was stranded here.
And Satan’s laughter filled my ears and the tears began to flow.
If I had only accepted Jesus; he tugged at my heart so.
The flames of Hell began to sear; flesh began to burn.
The things of the world I held so dear; no longer my concern.
Pain and agony filled my body; my crying turned to screams.
I woke up, my heart racing; it was only a dream.
Touching my face, I could feel the dampness of the tears.
I realized Jesus had been knocking; knocking all these years.
I got out of my bed and knelt down; crying on the floor.
And Jesus came into my heart when I opened up the door.

Re: Stranded Here
Heart touching poem - really loved it.
Few days back I was watching someone preaching (not Christian), this made me think. I thought this person is worshipping his god with all his heart. He is fasting, staying up late and following the commandments accroding to his faith. Now when he will die, what will he think?
Now Bible says there will be gnashing of teeth and agony. This person made me wonder that just after his death, he will taste agony because just like the rich man in the story of Lazarus, he will find out all his ways were wrong, the strength he used in worshipping his god was in vain. The agony of facing the Judgement Day will start and in dismay he will wait for that day hoping that it may never come. Now this agony and distress will be like a hell for him and his life in hell will start before he will step into hell physically.
God bless you Irv for you are really a blessing. I have always loved your poems and poems written by Fenny. Although I am not into poems but I do love them. John Dunne was a Biblical poet and I love his Biblical poetry, today your poem made me remember few verses from his poem that I read many years ago when I was doing my Masters.

Nothing begins and nothing ends
This is paid with moan;
For we are born in others pain
And perish in our own
Re: Stranded Here
Erve I love your poem, thank God it was just a dream and that at the end of the story the person involve repented. How many people go through life thinking they can earn their salvation by works no it is a gift of God less any man should boast. Salvation is a free gift, you can 't pay for it and it is not for sale. But once you believed you are so grateful to God, that you want to please him not to win your salvation, but to thank Him for His wonderful gift and to obey His word. These are the true Christians the ones that show fruits. Thank you, God bless you. forhisglory.
