Not Worthy

Not Worthy
I’ve immersed myself in the bottle, been wasted on drugs.
I’ve chosen every avenue of sin, instead of my families love.
I’ve fallen into the Devils pit, wallowed in his sinful sty.
Why would you come to me; Lord, why would you draw nigh?
I’ve been Satan’s right hand, a good one I must add.
But now, my wife is gone, my kids call someone else dad.
I’ve lost it all, Lord; house, car, job, family and friends.
Why would you come to me; why would you come in?
I’m not worthy of your love, or a free gift of eternal life.
Heaven, I am surely not worthy; just ask my kids and ex-wife.
But here I am at the mission; I come here three times a day.
And every time I eat here; I thank you for my tray.
No Lord, I am not worthy, for my life I’ve made waste.
But today Lord, I’m asking you; to save me by your grace.
I’m trusting in your salvation; Lord forgive me of my sins.
Lord, I open my heart to you and he gladly entered in.

Irv, this was heart moving! We have all messed up and loss, some to a greater measure than others. When i reflect what God has done for me, in spite of my sin and indifference, i too say: Lord, why me? Beautifully written! Blessings.
