Teach Your Children
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.Prov.22:6
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 11:18,19 NIV
And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Genesis 18:17-19 KJV
Correct your son,
and he will give you comfort;
He will also delight your soul.
Where there is no vision,
the people are unrestrained,
But happy is he who keeps the law.
Proverbs 29:17,18 NASB
5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. Deuteronomy 6:5-8 (New King James Version)
Re: Teach Your Children
What a coincidence Fenny I was about to write on this. Although your article is perfect but allow me to add few more verses to it.
God bless you and your familyAnd when your children ask you what does the ceremony mean to you? Then tell them... (Exodus 12:26-28)
In this new ear we can educate our children about importance of Jesus' birth, death and resurrection
On that day tell your son; 'I do this because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt (Exodus 13:8)
I believe that all believers must tell stories of the Bible to their children. I still remember the stories told by my mother and the stories I learnt in the Sunday School. I used to have a picture Bible (Webster's) and it is still with me and I remember all the stories when I open it up.
In days to come, when your son asks you, 'What does this mean?' say to him...(Exodus 13:14)
I believe that in this modern world where people are more interested in what they say instead of what God says, we must teach our children about sin and its consequences and must educate our children on the hope we have in Jesus. We must train our children on how to put their trust in Jesus in times of trouble.
