Betting Your Soul

Flip that coin one more time; make it the best, two out of three

You’re wagering the salvation of your soul my friend; and Satan wants the deed

So take another chance with that coin; maybe the best of seven

If you’re betting on works to get you in; Christ alone insures Heaven

So, how about a chance at that wheel or maybe a few rolls of the dice

It’s only your soul, you’re gambling; are you sure you can afford the price

Or maybe you’d prefer cutting high card; instead of flipping that coin

Remember, you’re gambling with your soul; and you’re playing against the Evil One

How about some Five Card Stud or a little game of Seven Card No Peek

You know, salvation doesn’t lie in Texas Hold ‘em; only God should you seek

So go ahead, flip that coin again; take another chance you’ll get it right

But what if you’re betting on tomorrow; and Jesus comes tonight

Sure we bet our souls many times taking our chances knowing that God is merciful. How sad it is and how truly you have put the human nature in a poem. Thank you for your poems and insight you have in scriptures.

I am afraid of the time when we will all run out of chances. I pray that God may keep all of us safe from failure of faith.

Irv your poems always leave me and my family thinking and the words always echos in my mind. You are indeed blessed and your blessings from God are blessing us.

Irv, I recently met someone who said this with a smile, "If I follow God then who will go to Hell, someone must fill Hell too". We all think that this is a game and what we don't realize is that the game we are playing is a deadly one.

There is another game people love to play and that game is known as God is love. Many believe that God is love and He will forgive everyone in the end.

Have you seen the movie Jumanji? In the movie the more they played the game the more problems they faced. It is same here in the normal world. The more we play the Game the more we run out of choices.
