Nearer My God to Thee
Friend closer than brother
Your presence ever be
So far yet you’re so near.
I in you and you in me
O what a blessed bliss!
At your feet I will seat
Until your work is complete.
Feed me daily with your life
Light my life with your life.
Light my night with your light
To do only things that are right
Let me see through your eyes
That from the dung I might rise
Feel daily what you feel
Embrace fully the divine deal.
O that my feet will go Your way
Never delayed or going astray
O that my heart will pant for You
Entwined with Yours, singing to You.
O that my soul will be sold out to you
Thinking the thoughts that come from You.
By your Spirit woo me to your bosom
There to draw strength for any storm.

Wonderful poem Fenny and I loved it. After reading the first stanza, I remembered these words of the Jesus

When I read faith-inspiring articles and poems, these words of Jesus come to life in my spirit and I can only praise Jesus for the understanding that He has given to all of us and specially to you that we can "understand" who Jesus is so that we may know who Heavenly Father is.No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from my Father I have made known to you. (John 15:5)

What a wonderful God we serve who calls us His friends. You cannot find it in any other faith.

We should be well pleased with God as a Friend, even when he seems against us as an enemy. We must believe that all shall work for good to us, even when all seems to make against us. We must cleave to God, yea, though we cannot for the present find comfort in him. In a dying hour, we must derive from him living comforts; and this is to trust in him, though he slay us.
