Lesson from Paul’s Prayers 3 Christ Home in Us
Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Growth
Christ wants to make His home in us
14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
What a prayer for spiritual growth!
The primary way Christ makes His home in us is to be enthroned whilst self and Satan and others or things are displaced. That only happens when you are born again.
He does not just want to be a visitor but a resident. He wants full reins. He wants to reign. He wants full control of our lives. He wants to be in the driving seat an not just a passenger.
Another way we know He is in full control is whether or not His word takes first place in our lives.
If ye love me, keep my commandments John14:15. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. ‘John1:7
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.Col3:16 ‘
The Psalmist said Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. Ps119:111
11 I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you. v11
14 I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
15 I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
16 I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.
40 How I long for your precepts!
Preserve my life in your righteousness
47 for I delight in your commands
because I love them.
83 Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke,
I do not forget your decrees.
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens.
97 Oh, how I love your law!
I meditate on it all day long.
Your commands make me wiser than my enemies,
for they are ever with me.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers,
for I meditate on your statutes.
127 Because I love your commands
more than gold, more than pure gold,
128 and because I consider all your precepts right,
I hate every wrong path.

129 Your statutes are wonderful;
therefore I obey them.
1 Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
Job said: Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. Jo23:12
